It is not enough to send people money if you really want to change things because the aids and the efforts of organizations and individuals have to be recognized by the states, and head of the government to affect masses. For instance, it costs around 5000$ to build a water well which provides clean water to around 250 people. The cost is twice as much as it would cost to directly meet 70 congressmen and build support for a bill which could provide clean water to 100 million people.
People tend to believe that the problem is too big to address and taking an action is biting off more than one can chew. This is just wrong! Every individual –regardless of their wealth, nationality or age- could make a difference. Advocacy is one of the most effective ways because it is usually very easy, cheap and noteworthy.
Effective advocacy methods include but are not limited to e-mailing the Congress, calling the Congress, mobilizing people to call or e-mail, lobbying local representatives, and education masses. Every call made or e-mail sent to the Congress goes to weekly report that is checked regularly by the leaders.
