Going off to college may be a tough thing to do. Things will change, you will have a new sense of freedom, new responsibilities, and new friendships. You're probably super stressed... and excited all the same time. As a senior in college, I feel like I have some wisdom to share with some of you newbies. So here is how to survive college:

1. Manage your time

Probably the most common mistake a college kid could possibly make. I get it, you're in college. There is no one to tell you to go to your 8 am class. You can sleep in all you won't because you are in charge. But listen here, kid, you NEED to manage your time. Napping in the middle of the day is cannot become a habit. Find time to study, start that paper a week early... It will pay off.

2. Go out

This is not me telling you to disregard the last advice. But we all need to blow off steam once in a while. So go to that frat party on Saturday night, get a little tipsy, forget about that presentation that has been stressing you out.

3. Watch what you eat

It's really easy to find food on campus. But just watch it. Remember, eating after 7 pm is not healthy. Do not order that pizza at midnight. You will regret it.

4. Do not judge

Just remember that the people you now go to school with are completely different from the ones your grew up with. They come from different places, wear different clothes, and do not behave like your high school friends. Remember to always keep an open mind, you may discover something about yourself in the process.

5. Ask for help

It seems like everyone else is not having as hard of a time in chemistry as you. Asking for help is not shameful. Not understanding how to calculate percent yield is okay. Ask for help. Tutors are there for a reason.

6. Do not forget your parents

They did raise you for 18 years. Just because you have that new found freedom, don't forget where you came from.

7. Learn to let go

You will make new friends so its natural that your high school friends are probably doing the same. It may be hard at some points because the friend that got your through your last break-up is getting someone else through it now. Sometimes it could be tough that's life.. it tends to get in the way.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
