Kill Them With Kindness

Advice everyone should follow.

Kill Them With Kindness

Ever since I was a little girl my mom would always tell me to “kill people with kindness”. From rude and inconsiderate people throughout the day to friendships that have gone south, this small piece of advice has quickly become a rule that I try to live by everyday.

The first time my mom told me to just ignore all of the rude things in life and just be nice to everyone, I just shrugged it off and continued on with my day. Little did I know, this small piece of advice that seemed unimportant at the time, would become something that stuck with me throughout my middle school, high school, and even college years and make a huge impact on my entire life.

When someone you know says something mean to you or acts out at you, it is hard to not do the same right back in retaliation. However, it is important to not stoop down to their level and do what you know is right. Not only will it make them realize their words and actions don’t affect you, but it will also make you feel better that you didn’t tear anyone down, just like they did to you.

It’s very difficult to follow this rule every time someone is rude to you. But, by doing so there could be less road rage and arguments on the streets. There would be less friendships ruined over never ending fights. Overall, there would be less tears in the world. If we all lived by the “kill them with kindness” mentality we should would all live much happier lives.

So, next time you are confronted on the streets or have a fall out with a friend, remember to kill them with kindness. Just smile and give them compliments, and don’t let their words get to you. But, most importantly, remember to listen to your parents went they give advice. It might just change how you live your life.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
