Throughout the years you learn a lot about the world as well as yourself. Yet when we're growing up the smallest things seem like the biggest deal in the world, when reality it's not. Here's what your older self wants your younger self to know.

1. If it won't matter in five years, it doesn't matter now.

It happens so often that we get so sucked into petty drama whether it's with your group of friends or your family. As long as no one is sick or hurt, it doesn't matter now, it won't matter later.

2. Stop apologizing!

This one I am still working on. You don't have to apologize for brushing up against someone, you don't have to apologize for being annoying (you only have to do that if someone tells you you're being annoying but even then. Just stop).

3. It's never too late to get started on something.

Everyone always says, "I'll put it off for tomorrow." But tomorrow never gets here! Whether it's going to the gym or trying to eat better, or getting started on a pick project, the trains leave every 15 minutes. CATCH THE NEXT ONE!

4. You're not too busy.

I know you may fight me on this one, but yes you are not too busy to commit to going to the gym or agreeing to help your friend move. The time you spend looking at your phone or reading social media. You have enough time to be productive and get stuff done!

5. HYDRATE!

Still working on this one... I love my Diet Coke. But honestly, if it's not already obvious, water is good for you! It's good for your skin, your body, your health...I could name more but you can look that up on your own. Drink water kids! It's also refreshing.

There are five pieces of advice we're better off learning late than never!

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
