Sometimes, you just want to try something new or different, maybe have an adventure with a friend or two. Are you tired of your same old weekend habits? Here are some suggestions to spice up your weekend!
1. Find a Museum
From the statues of the Norton Simon Art Museum to the Getty Museum by Malibu, there is tons of cool art to see. The LACMA has multiple floors of beautiful art across time periods, and the Other Getty Museum has a garden I can never get enough of. For someone such as myself, some people may find it surprising that I enjoy going to these buildings of art, but they actually make a both fun and interesting thing to do when you have a free day, or if you just want to get away from your everyday responsibilities. If you aren’t into art, there are also other museums to see, such as the Natural History Museum, and more!
2. Spend the Day at the Beach
There are so many beaches to choose from in California, and even if the weather gets chilly, it still makes for a good day out. One place I often go with my family is Third Street Promenade to see some performers and have a good dinner after going to the Santa Monica Pier. While you’re at it, you may as well take a stroll in the half-indoor half-outdoor mall in Santa Monica. A fun day can easily be made by finding a restaurant to eat at after seeing Malibu. There is plenty to do around our gorgeous beaches.
3. Go to Disneyland
Are you a Disney fan? We’re lucky enough to be a state that has Disneyland and California Adventure! With a park-hopper pass or a ticket for one or the other, you could easily spend a day (or two) at one of those lovely theme parks. Not a isneyD fan? No problem! There is Six Flags Magic Mountain, Seaworld, Universal Studios, Knott’s Berry Farm and even Legoland for if you have kiddos. It’s even more enticing to go around this time of year, because of all the frightening festivities!
4. Take a Hike
Do you like being outdoors? Hiking could be a fun way to spend a day, or even an afternoon! One popular hiking site has been the hike to the Hollywood sign. I’ve heard that it’s worth the walk! If not, there are other interesting trails you could find, from Devil’s Punchbowl to exploring the San Gabriel mountains by the Mount Wilson Observatory.
5. Play Tourist
Lastly, and perhaps the most unexpected of this list, is to take a tour! With a little planning, you could easily tour places from the LA city, to Catalina Island or the numerous food tours that are around. You can be a google search away from an exciting day out in the city--so what’re you waiting for!
