The Caro Diaries

The experience of living in a quad or a suite in college can be quite different from the typical experience of living in a double. You now have three roommates and a lot more space, which will lead to amazing memories. Here are a few things most college students who live in a quad know to be true:

1. You will never feel lonely

With four people living in the same place it is hard to go a full hour without someone talking to you. You also have a choice of three people who will always be there to listen to you.

2. You don’t have to leave your room to socialize

Having a living room is a big advantage when it comes to socializing. Friends can constantly come over and hang out on the couch for hours. You can also throw parties or social gatherings without worrying about anyone touching the stuff in your room.

3. You become very open about your bowel movement

Sharing a bathroom also means knowing how much time everyone spends in there and how their stomachs are feeling. The living space becomes the place where everyone is free to do whatever they want, including farting and burping, and roommates all end up accepting that.

4. Holidays are always fun

When there is no schoolwork to do, the best way to spend your day is hanging around and watching movies with your roommates.

5. There is always a mom of the group

One of the roommates is always the responsible one who can’t stand it if the place is a mess, and who is always the best at planning things, allowing the other roommates to be their crazy, messy selves.

6. It prepares you for when you get your own place

In many ways, a quad is like an apartment. There is a living room, bedrooms, and a bathroom, all of which have to be kept clean. There are several responsibilities that come with living in a quad, the same responsibilities you will have when you get your own apartment some day.

7. You learn more gossip

Roommates don’t always hang out with the same people, so when it comes to sharing gossip, there is so much more to share! More sources, more information!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
