Why Disney Is Just As Much For Adults As It Is For Children

Why Disney Is Just As Much For Adults As It Is For Children

Everyone has a hobby, or a passion. For some, it's music, painting, or gardening. All of those are wonderful passions. For me, it's Disney. Watching every Disney movie multiple times is what brings me joy in life. My family vacations? Disney World or a Disney cruise. Yes, Disney is typically seen as a form of entertainment for children. But I'm an adult, and I love it. There's nothing wrong with that.

Famously known for creating the Disney company and imagining up beloved characters like Mickey Mouse, Walt Disney is a hero of mine. He too believed that Disney can be enjoyed by all, even adults. He's a wise man, and one of his famous quotes says that adults can find happiness in Disney. "You're dead if you aim only for kids. Adults are only kids grown up, anyway." If the imagineer of all that is Disney says that his creations aim for not only children, but adults too, then why is it still so wrong to love Disney?

To those that still believe adults taking Disney vacations is a waste of money: have you ever been to Disney World as an adult? There is still nothing more magical than walking into the park and looking down Main Street and seeing that gorgeous castle. Not only is the park itself magical, but I truly love seeing little kids so happy when they meet their favorite character.

No, the rides are not just for children. There are in fact thrill rides too. Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Test Track, Expedition Everest (one I'm still too scared to go on) and The Tower of Terror are just some examples of rides that adults could fully enjoy. Most of them to this day I still cannot ride because they either freak me out or I'm just too scared of heights!

One last thing about the parks, the food. I could go on and on about my beloved Mickey waffles, but there is just so much more too! Dole Whip, one of the most loved foods in the park, Mickey bars, turkey legs, everything inside Main Street confectionary, the list never ends. Who wouldn't want to dine like Belle and the Beast in their castle, or Cinderella in her's? Disney truly knows how to get their food right.

Let's just get to the heart of all things Disney, their classic cherished movies. Everything about them is just amazing. From the beautiful princesses to the more funny characters, who wouldn't want to live their life as a Disney character. Yes, I can belt out every song in every movie, and I love it! Why wouldn't I want to single along? Plus, watching Disney movies on a sick day is truly the only thing to make my throat less sore. With the addition of new characters such as Moana, one can truly feel all the strong independent feelings within themselves. We also cannot deny the fact that characters like Flynn Rider, Mushu and Mike Wazowski make us laugh!

Overall, Disney isn't just for kids. So next time you meet a Disney fanatic and you want to say they shouldn't be one, instead ask them why they love Disney so much. Don't try and destroy something someone else loves just because you believe it's not age-appropriate, find out why they love it and maybe you can learn to love it too.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
