No matter how excited everyone was to turn 16 and get their permit, turn 17 and get your full license, turn 18 and gain A LOT more rights, and finally (not me yet) turn 21 to legally drinks, I think we all can agree now, Adulting Sucks. Now I'll be the first one to admit that I love my freedom of where and when I want to do anything and that now that I'm 19, but I hate the responsibility that has come along with having the title "an adult."
For example, working, now I'm a very fortunate person to love my job, but don't get me wrong dragging myself to actually get there is a job in itself. For everyone with full time jobs, i am so sorry for you. Having to wake up at 8 o'clock and work your whole day and summer away is definitely not the most enjoyable. After working at your job for a bit and finally receiving your first check, get ready to say bye to majority of that money because you have to pay for all of your own things now. No money from Mom, Dad, grandparents, or anyone else you can burgle a few bucks off of.
Plus, you need to make some serious decisions. No more big, life threatening 5th grade decisions such as if you want chips or pudding for lunch, no now we have actual choices to make. We have priorities as well. Do we go out until 2am, or be responsible and go to bed at a reasonable time because we have work at 8 in the morning? As adults, we need to put matters into our own hands a successful create a time schedule where we can enjoy ourselves while also having a successful career. What ever happened to being stressed because no swings were open on the playground?
With priorities, sometimes you need to pick the people you want to stay around as well. The days of "your friends are your moms friends children days" are long gone. Now you need to decide if a person is going to influence you to do your best and if they are a healthy choice for your life. The amount of thinking and stress that goes into this decision is definitely worth a drink, but in the long run, your bettering your life with your happiness and friends.
So yes, adulting is pretty cool with the amount of things you can legally do, but along with responsibility, work, stress, anxiety and much more, we can all agree, sometimes adulting really sucks.
