Change can be good with help.

Graduating from college is a big change. You leave school behind. You enter the work force. You leave behind friends and make new ones. It can be a scary time. As someone who it is about to go through it also I understand. But here are a few things that have made it easier for me.

A Friend: Having someone to listen to your woes who knows what you are going through. Having someone kick you in the butt and encourage you to chase after your dreams. Having someone to try all the new adult things with you, so you can laugh about it later. Having someone to laugh and cry with. Having someone to help make all the moments good ones no matter how scary it might get sometimes.

A Family: Having a group of people to support you in whatever you do will help you reach your dreams. Whether they are by blood or a family you have found and made your own, people that support you are irreplaceable. Having people that will take you in when you have no where left to go or no money left to buy food means life isn't as hard.

Optimism: When you don't have a job lined up and worry about paying bills, having a faith that everything will work out in the end is what keeps the good things coming. Surrounding yourself with optimism and positivity is the only way you will find yourself in the next best chapter of your life.

An open mind: You never know where your next opportunity will come from. The more limits you put on your world the less opportunity will find you. Sometimes you have to do stuff you don't like, but it isn't forever. It may sound cheesy, but you don't know what can come from an open mind until you give it a try.

Talking: It is as simple as vocalizing your fears, doubts, and concerns. Talking about your thoughts will help things become more concrete and easier to manage. Talking gets it out of your head so you can get a new perspective on life's challenges.

Take it one day at a time. Stop and enjoy life. Don't get too caught up in the future because it will make you forget about the present. There will be no future if you don't remember to live in the now. The only thing you should plan is your own happiness. Do what makes you happy, whatever that is. Don't be afraid of a change because it could be the best thing that has ever happened to you

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
