Sisterhood is more than throwing what you know for an Instagram pic. Sisterhood is a concept that you will see through the scene of Greek life throughout nearly all U.S. college campuses. Within our society, many people see a sorority woman and consider the concept of her calling hundreds and thousands of women her sisters very superficial. Many look at the idea of sisterhood but do not know what it truly means to a sorority woman.
Sisterhood is a concept that is truly so much bigger than itself. Sisterhood is having a group of woman that inspires you on a daily basis. A group of women that are there for you to cheer you on at your highest of highs as well as being your shoulder to cry on at your lowest of lows. Sisterhood is having always having a friend to hang out with, always having someone to take on those late night food runs with. Having a friend that will stay up all night studying with you, and are the people pushing you to achieve your greatest. Sisterhood is always having a group of women to keep you grounded, and always inspiring you to be a better you. It is having women who stand by you through your growth in your collegiate career and crying bittersweet tears when the time comes you are no longer a college level member within the chapter.
With that being said, the idea of sisterhood travels far beyond your college years. Sisterhood is being able to travel across the world and being able to connect with a woman you've never met on such a deep level just from the society you chose to be in your college life. Having a common connection with a woman in most places you go.
Sisterhood is being able to have a bond with these women far beyond four years. Being able to have your sisters standing beside you on your wedding day. Having these women to celebrate your first real job, your first house, your first child and so on with them supporting you the whole time. Having your children raised together. Having a bond that last eternity. To me, that what being in a sisterhood means to me.
