Admit It, Paulette Bonafonte From Legally Blonde Is Your Spirit Animal, Too
Did You See That One

I remember the first time I watched "Legally Blonde." From that moment, I knew that I would become the next Elle Woods. Everything fit into place perfectly: I was short, blonde and obsessed with the color pink. All that I was missing was a law degree. For the next ten years when someone asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I promptly responded with, “A lawyer.”

Obviously those plans changed, and it wasn’t until a recent Netflix marathon where I realized I wasn’t destined to be another Elle Woods; I was a Paulette Bonafonte all along. And why not? She might not be the prettiest or the smartest, but she is wicked funny.

There’s nothing wrong with admitting it! Paulette Bonafonte is completely underrated. Here are just a few reasons why.

She fiercely loves her dog.

Anyone willing to fight a scary ex in a trailer park for their four-legged baby is worth an applause. She is dedicated to that dog and will not let anyone stand in her way. Good for you, Paulette, good for you.

She isn’t afraid to say what comes to her mind.

"You look like the Fourth of July! Makes me want a hot dog real bad!"

Everything reminds me of food, but I'm normally too afraid to admit it. Paulette doesn't care, she will tell it like it is. Maybe we should all filter our thoughts a little less like she does... or maybe not... But at least we can admit that we were thinking the same thing, she's just brave enough to say it out loud.

She has awesome boobs.

Does this even need explaining?

She’s a loyal friend.

The people who are in my life are here for a reason. I hope that I can be as good a friend to them as Paulette is for Elle. Paulette is there for her when she’s at her lowest, and she has some steal-worthy words for uplifting anyone's mood. On my list of attributes I hope to have, loyalty is high in the rankings.

Sure, Elle Woods is inspiring. She goes to Harvard Law School chasing after some guy, but in the process works her butt off and becomes a pretty awesome lawyer. She is passionate, stylish and can give an impressive graduation speech. But don't forget about the forever underrated Paulette Bonafonte. If you need an honest and dependable friend, look past her quirky style and clumsy ways to see her for who she truly is.

Here's to all of the Paulette Bonafontes of the world. Stay sassy. Keep practicing your "bend and snap" and add a few more words than "okay" or "fine" to your vocabulary the next time you have a conversation with that cute delivery guy. And keep rockin' that blue eye shadow, you lovely.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
