Due to COVID, I have been limiting my visits to unnecessary stores. Unfortunately, this means less trips to the mall. I have been wearing what feels like the same clothes every week, and I watch girls on Instagram living out my fashion dreams.
Last week, in a sudden craving to amp up my wardrobe, I stumbled upon an online store called Adika. I was drawn to the site because they had all the styles of clothing that I often see influencers wearing. I am usually iffy about online shopping, but the clothes were too cute to not give it a shot.
My order contained 2 crop tops, an oversized tee and a pair of jeans. I was both nervous and excited for the clothes to come because I never know what size to get when ordering online.
We'll get into the sizing later, but I am going to tell you about every aspect of ordering from Adika.
Pricing
Their tops range anywhere from $7-$54. The cheapest top I bought was $16, and the most expensive top was $23. I was also given a 25% off coupon on my whole order and free shipping. Compared to other popular stores like Urban Outfitters, the pricing is not bad.
Shipping Time
I was pleasantly surprised to see that my order arrived within 3 days. I was honestly shocked when my roommates told me I received a package that quick. 10/10 for shipping time.
Clothing Quality
I was more than satisfied with the quality and material of the clothes. I was worried about the material because I have been disappointed by other online stores in the past (Pretty Little Thing, I'm taking about you).
Sizing
Here is where I finally ran into a problem. We'll start with the tops.
First up, I ordered the "Raph Oversize Tee." I normally size up to make a shirt oversized, but I decided to order my normal size of medium since this shirt was marketed as oversized already. Upon opening, I could immediately tell the shirt was shorter than I expected. It fit well, but it was not as long as I would picture an oversized shirt to be.
I am planning to exchange for a larger size to make the shirt longer. If it helps you decide whether to order, I am 5'6, and the shirt stopped at mid-booty.
I have been in need of black crop tops, so I ordered this "Slick Satin Finish Crop Top." I was pretty confident a medium would fit because I always buy crop tops in a medium, but I was unfortunately mistaken. I could get away with wearing this top, but it definitely fits tighter than I expected. I still have yet to decide whether to keep it, exchange it for a large, or return it all together.
The good thing is that Adika does free returns, so there's no need to worry about paying for shipping.
This top is called the "Mckenny Crop Top." I don't typically wear open back shirts, so this top was definitely out of my comfort zone. The medium did fit in this one, but the straps were placed awkwardly close to my armpits because of the open back. I am debating returning due to the straps, but the shirt is still cute and good quality.
Now moving onto the bottoms.
These jeans are called the "Stevens Color Block Jeans." I was super nervous about ordering these, but the thought of free returns persuaded me to give them a shot. They come in just 4 sizes, XS, S, M and L. I have not had luck with mom jeans in the past, and this pair was no different. I ordered a large, and they fit everywhere except my thigh/booty area. I am not the skinniest girl, so I often struggle with jeans of this type.
When these jeans didn't fit, I honestly felt really discouraged. It made me feel like all my hard work in the gym has been for nothing. However, I reminded myself that not everyone has the same body type, and it is unlikely for a selection of just 4 sizes to fit everyone.
Final Thoughts
Adika has cute, trendy clothing, but the sizing definitely runs small. If I order from them in the future, I think I will size up to a large in tops, and avoid buying bottoms all together. Even though I didn't have the best experience with Adika's clothes, everyone's body is different. What doesn't work for me may work for you, and vice versa!
