Yeah, yeah, yeah, you've probably never heard of them but that's what make them admirable. In the age of Miley Cyrus and the Kardashians, dare to look up to these five amazing women instead.
1. Audrey Hepburn
Just this quote should be explanation enough! Sure, it was only a movie but she played roles that displayed what she believed in. Not only was she an actor, she was a philanthropist and worked as an ambassador for UNICEF following her leave from acting. She was a humanitarian, wife, mother and friend—what else could you ask from a girl?
2. Candice Glover
This girl got her start on "American Idol" when she won season 12. She talked a lot about self-confidence issues and body image during her time on the show. Now that she has her own record deal and has a much louder voice in Hollywood, she spends her time talking about body image and how it should not be a factor when determining self-worth and confidence.
3. Emma Watson
I'm pretty sure there isn't a single person on this earth who doesn't just love Emma Watson! She started off in the "Harry Potter" series and worked her way into tons more box office hits during and after the franchise ending. While doing all this, she managed to graduate from Brown University with a degree in English literature and at the top of her class. Hey, maybe she and J.K. Rowling could team up and make some more Harry Potter based magic! We can only hope.
4. Katherine Hepburn
Guess what? She was one of the first female actresses to wear pants on screen! Oh yeah, big move for women everywhere! She was fiercely independent and didn't take anything from anyone. After a few hard reviews at the movies, she managed to sweep herself back to the top and remains one of the most talented actresses of her time.
5. Meryl Streep
Not only is she a wildly talented actress, but she's wildly crazy about rights for women everywhere. Not only that, but she and a bunch of other female actresses in Hollywood signed a petition to end poverty for girls. Many of her friends and coworkers have nothing but praise to send her way so isn't it a sign young girls everywhere should too?
