When Barack Obama delivers a speech, his words are routinely calculated, factual, and politically correct. However, the president's persona oozes charisma, personality, and leadership. For the last eight years, Barack Obama has shown us the definition of "presidential."
With the election of Donald Trump, who railed against "political correctness" during his campaign, the presidency will have an unorthodox personality as the leader of America. In modern times, we have never seen a president go on Twitter rants at 3 am or be on tape confessing to sexual assault.
I held out hope that this was to win the election. After all, it worked. The election showed the American people wanted a president that was not "presidential."
Yet the Donald continues to tweet his criticism at SNL and the cast of the musical "Hamilton." This is not an election gimmick. This is Donald Trump. We the people chose this.
The presidency will no longer be professional, objective, and factual. Instead, in 60 days, when Barack Obama leaves the White House, so will acting "presidential."
