So last week I was scrolling through Twitter, as I do, and my good friend Katie made a very important observation:
Now I’m sure this was tweeted to get some good laughs from her many, many followers. However, I can’t stop thinking of the urgency of this issue. Today’s generation has, indeed, become too secular. It is our job as youthful Christians to revive Christianity on social media sites and in the texting realm. My friend Katie has sparked a revolution, and if we are lucky, the revival will be as impactful as the Great Awakening of the eighteenth century. It’s time to take Katie’s words into serious consideration and bring the kingdom of God back to earth. Stop the secularized acronyms! In addition to her suggestions, let’s make the following changes:
1. BTW — “By the way?” How about “Believe the Word.”
2. TBH — “To be honest?” Nah. “To be holy.”
3. TFW —“The feel when” OR “The faith within.”
4. BRB —“Be right back?” Try “Beloved, righteous blood.”
5. GTG —“Got to go?” No. “Glory to God.”
6. ROTFL —Ditch “Rolling on the floor laughing” and start using “Rely on the Father’s love.”
7. FYI —“For your information” is part of the past. Stay hip with “Forget your idols.”
8. PLS —“Please,” better known as “Pray, Love, Serve.”
9. TGIF —“Thank God it’s Friday?” NO! “Thank God I’m forgiven.”
10.WTF —“What the F*ck?” Atrocious. “With the Father.”
11. OMW —Forget “On my way” and try “Owning my worship.”
12. LMFAO —“Laughing my f*cking *ss off.” I'M APPALLED. “Loving my faithful Alpha Omega.”
13. TTYL —“Talk to you later” or “Talk to your Lord.”
