Movies have always been a great source of enjoyment for attendees of all ages. Ever since I was a kid, movies have brought me much joy and entertainment as they manage to strike many inner emotions: excitement, happiness, sometimes sadness. Sequels to movies always leave me wondering how they intend to top the previous one and they expand the dimension of what was once a single story. Perhaps one of the greatest things within the cinema world is different movies that work off of each other and culminate into a universe that continues to expand and culminate into further greatness. I’m pretty sure you know where I’m going with this: The Marvel Cinematic Universe!
Movie adaptations of superheroes from Marvel Comics that share the same universe and where one story ends, it’s merely a setup for something much bigger within the universe. As a fan of heroes, it’s without a doubt an experience that I’ve enjoyed since 2008. Each phase introduces a new line of heroes while also expanding their role. Phase One began with Iron Man and followed with the Incredible Hulk. Thor was eventually released and soon after, Captain America. Everything culminated towards The Avengers, the first superhero movie of its kind, and from there it was left to grow and expand.
Phase Two would continue the stories of the heroes introduced in Phase One while introducing a few new stories and concepts: The Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man, and the concept of the powerful Infinity Stones. It ultimately culminated into the sequel of the previous Avengers movie: Age of Ultron. Now that I’ve given a brief summary of the previous phases, I’m now going to delve into Phase Three as it is expected to be the best one yet!
Phase Three started off with a bang with Captain America: Civil War (an adaptation that borrows elements from the “Civil War” crossover comics) as the events and battles from the previous movies left repercussions that affect the Avengers and the resulting legislative action leads to an epic battle between superheroes! Later this year we’re introducing the concepts of magic and the mystic arts as Doctor Strange makes his way into the MCU. The following year will be a continuation of the stories of the Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor (which is considered to be one of the darkest scripts within the Marvel Universe) while also providing a story for a hero introduced in Civil War, Spiderman! While Spiderman had previous adaptations in the past, including a reboot, it was under the rights of Sony and set apart from the MCU.
However, with the deal
Marvel made with Sony, Spiderman will be web slinging in the MCU and become a
part of the action along with the other heroes. The next year, Ant-Man’s story
will be further expanded as well as the introduction of solo movie of another
hero introduced in Civil War, Black Panther! That year will also introduce the
1st part of one of the biggest and most anticipated cinema projects
of all time: Avengers: Infinity War (title soon to be changed)! A project that
was set in motion with the first Avengers movie, all the previous movies have
been culminating into the epic showdown between the heroes of the Marvel
Universe and the mad titan Thanos, one of Marvel Comic’s most powerful villains
to ever exist. With the project comprising of around 67 characters and being
the first feature film to be shot entirely in IMAX, it is promised to be the
event of a lifetime! The following year will introduce the superhero Captain
Marvel and conclude Phase Three with the 2nd part of Infinity War!
These movies have provided an experience and story to follow and as time passes,
I look forward to how they continue to progress!
