Accepting Your Stretch Marks

"There is no wrong way to exist in a body."

I'm sure I'm not the only one with excessive amounts of stretch marks. They're everywhere: hips, stomach, arms. You name it. They've always been some of my biggest insecurities, but I'm learning to accept them.

I'm a plus-sized girl, and when I see plus-sized models, they seem to never have stretch marks or cellulite. I know it's Photoshopped, but it's still easy to let society get in my brain, telling me my imperfections aren't beautiful.

But I want you all to know that there is no wrong way to exist in a body. You don't need to be "flawless" to be an acceptable version of yourself. Every body is beautiful the way it is. With hair, without hair, with stretch marks, without stretch marks. With your winged eyeliner ready to catch the breeze to make you fly, or with a bare face. As long as you're comfortable and you're not harming yourself or anyone else, what's the issue?

Remember, this is for men, women, and every other gender. Stretch marks are NOT just for women! All of my exes (and current boyfriend) all have had stretch marks, and all of them are different body types. Stretch marks aren't just from being overweight or from being pregnant. It could be from a growth-spurt. Or even a sickness.

My stretch marks tell a story. They dance across my entire body, allowing me to know that I've matured. They remind me that I am my own person. They remind me that I've grown into someone that I've learned to love. And I'm going to embrace every "flaw" my body can offer.

We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:
