Make Acceptance Great (Again)

Tis the day after Election Day and all has aroused, Afraid to speak to your friends, and even your spouse.

Make Acceptance Great (Again)

I never did enjoy talking about politics. It’s that one subject that most people try to avoid because that’s just fighting a fire that most people don’t want to deal with. However, this subject becomes what seems to be the only subject to talk about in the beginning of November every four years. And we, as Americans, are expected to make our own opinions. Donald Trump is now the President for the next four years. In other words, we should ACCEPT Donald Trump to be the President for the next four years.

Let me start off by saying I do respect Trump and would rather see him president over Hilary any day. No, I’m not anti-feminist, no I’m not racist, and no I’m not against LGBT, and it’s not difficult to find other Trump supporters out there that feel the same way. Let me remind you that both candidates are certainly not perfect. Trump has said some insulting words, no doubt about that, and it is concerning to think someone with that mindset can be President. However, no one is perfect so how can we expect our president to be? Words can be replaced by actions, but actions, on the other hand, are rather difficult to be replaced.

This brings me to the perspective on why Hilary Clinton seemed as unqualified. Yes, she is a female and it is fantastic to see that we live in a time where women can rise to that potential. Although she may be a female, we can’t forget to look at it from an individual perspective. As you may know, Clinton has been under FBI investigation for deleting thousands of emails leading towards the deaths of men in Benghazi. For me, that had made choosing who I support in this election quite simple. I couldn’t fathom the idea of someone who allowed that to happen to run our country. As previously stated, the words of Trump can’t possibly be compared to such lies and corruption.

Trump has not started his journey yet, and people are already prepared to “pack their bags”. I’m not asking you to love the man, but give him a chance. I can assure you that everyone will still be guaranteed their rights. Trump has proposed some spectacular ideas for this country involving national security and criminally illegal immigrants.

These are the things that have posed as issues for years. He even spoke about giving benefits to our veterans. This man is no dictator; he is working to change this country in positive ways. Trump would not be president if America did not want him to be. Listen to your country, because two-hundred-and-seventy-nine electoral votes was no mistake. The only thing we, as Americans, can do is wait and see if President Trump will keep his promises.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
