"Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."

Worry and anxiety affect so many of us. We worry about our jobs, family, relationships, and the world around us. It sometimes seems as if things are out of balance and control, yet we are left to correct it all and put everything back into its proper place.

As much as I wish I could manage it all, I know and accept the fact that I can't change everyone and everything. I can't turn every negative situation into a positive experience and I can't always fix what's broken. I can't control it all because I'm not God. However, I can control the way I treat myself and others and the way I see life itself. I've learned to accept the things I cannot change and work to positively influence the things I can.

Whenever you figure out and accept what truly is and isn't in your control, you will gain a sense of clarity and understanding.

Five Facts To Accept Today:

1. It is not your job or place to change a person's views

We all have different perspectives, life experiences, and backgrounds so it would be expected that we view issues and life itself differently. Don't ruin a relationship out of ignorance or being small minded. Unless someone's views and actions impact your health, safety, and well being, agree to disagree and move on. It's that simple.

2. A person will change only if they are willing to

So many of us want to save people from themselves and help them reach their fullest potential. As admirable as that may be, sometimes it isn't realistic. More often than not, we end up getting drained and hurt in the process. It's important to realize that a person's ability to change is dependent on their willingness to change. They must want better, to be better. You can support them and motivate them, but in the end, they are in control of their own lives.

3. You dictate how much power a person or situation has

Drama and negativity don't simply pop up in your life. You either allow it in or let it stay there. If you want someone to quit hurting you and tearing you down, cut ties with them or put boundaries. People treat you the way you allow them to and you give them the amount of control they have over you. Life is too short to waste time on negative people and situations.

4. You have the power to be the change you want to see

We live in a day in age where accountability, responsibility, and acceptance are out of the window and everyone is open to tear down those they don't understand or identify with. Many of us have not only lost comfort, but also lost focus on the bigger picture. You can't control the actions of others but you can control the way you respond to them. Get involved in your community and in programs you are passionate about. Be a voice for those who are unwilling to speak and be a positive example to people around you. You have the power to make a positive impact. Get out there and make a difference.

5. The only person you can control is yourself. Embrace it.

When you realize that you are in control of your life and future, you simultaneously open a door to optimism and opportunity. You understand that through your good choices, gratitude, and hard work comes happiness, blessings, and accomplishments. You can do anything you set your mind to and the sky is the limit. Confidence and humility are key. The ball is forever in your court.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
