Change is Good

How do you deal with change? Everyone deals with change differently from positive to negative. I used to deal with change negatively, I hated it. I thought everything needed to constantly stay the same. I believed in this until my senior year of high school.

Spring semester of my junior year of high school I was informed by my parents we would be moving two hours south over the summer. I lived in Henry my whole life and I thought my life was over. I didn't understand how my parents could just drag me away from the people I knew since before pre-school. For anyone that is familiar with Henry it's a small town. There was about 150 in the whole high school and about 30 in my class. My new school was going to be big compared to this school as Mount Zion had over 700 hundred in the school and about 150 in my class alone.

I could see this whole moving thing was already getting better when my dad told me I could have anything I wanted within reason to help with the move, so that's where my dog Buddy came along. I got involved with my new school right away starting with band camp. I was so excited my old school was so small we were combined with two other schools for football and only one of the schools was allowed to be in the marching band. My marching band at my new school had over 80 people and it was right where I belonged. I love band and Henry's band program was so small with nine people in my high school band. Mount Zion offered so many opportunities to grow in band.

I never really had a best friend at my old high school and I connected with this girl named Grace at band camp and we became best friends. Grace wasn't the only friend I made. I made so many friends throughout the year and I can't imagine my life without them now. One of my friends even led me to an amazing boyfriend! God truly blessed me all throughout my senior year and I wouldn't change it for anything. Change can be good so accept it and you'll be on your way to an adventure. Enjoy the ride!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.
