Recently, my eyes have been opened to the world of acai bowls and let me tell you, I'm a better person for it. For those of you who don't know, an acai bowl has a base of what is essentially an acai smoothie topped with all of the fruits and sweet things you could ever want. If you haven't had one, go get one after reading this article.

But with the obvious choices for Number One Food on the Planet like pizza and soft pretzels, why is an acai bowl the best food? Here is my reasoning laid out in the most basic format: a listicle.

1. They're beautiful

Just look at these! Tell me they aren't beautiful! Rarely do you ever see someone Instagram a pizza as artsy as this. As if you needed more proof, do me a favor and Google 'playa bowls'. Tell me you don't want to eat everything you see.

2. They're pretty healthy

While they do contain sugar, acai bowls are packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, fiber, and protein! Depending on what you add to it, you can up the amount of anything whether it's protein powder or chia seeds.

The bowl in the picture above is my favorite: The Nutella Bowl with bananas, coconut flakes, strawberries, granola, and an acai base. Not the most healthy, but definitely the yummiest.

3. They're refreshing AF

Acai bowls are cold. This is what makes them the most refreshing summer food in the world. Hell, they're good ANY time of year! My sister and I frequently go to our local acai bowl place in the winter to get our favorite treat.

4. They're actually pretty affordable

For the amount of stuff you can get in one of these things, it's an affordable meal! And when I say 'meal', I mean it. These might not look it, but they're FILLING.

5. They're not just Acai

You can get another base to the bowl if Acai isn't your thing. The shop near me has Pitaya, banana, Chia seed pudding, kale, and coconut bowls. With all of the possibilities, you're bound to love at least one of these magnificent meals.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
