Dear best friend,

Having a best friend like you is second to none. You are the first person I turn to for absolutely everything. I am honestly not sure what I would do if I didn't have you to update minute by minute what is going on with my life, or to constantly tell you everything I overthink for days that probably won't even be relevant in a month. You are my person, you constantly save me from myself, and I am eternally grateful.

I know we have been through a lot. Every friendship has its ups and downs, and we definitely have had our fair share. But I am so thankful to be able to still call you my best friend. But in reality, you are way more than just a friend; you are my family. You are my person, you are the one I can turn to no matter the situation, and I know you will always have my back, the same way you know I have yours. You are the first person I turn to when things get tough and you never fail to leave me with a smile on my face.

There is no one else I would want to take random four-hour car rides with, just to end up right back where we started. Not to mention spending hours on FaceTime right after being together all day. I cannot even begin to thank you enough for always knowing when something is wrong, even if I refuse to admit it, and then cheering me up. Every exciting, funny or adventurous story and memory I have includes you. It's pretty easy to sit back and think of all the amazing memories we have made together and I cannot wait to make more.

Thank you for being you. Thank you for being there when things get hard, thank you for being patient with me. Thank you for accepting who I am and loving me unconditionally. Thank you for being my shoulder to cry on and a BIG thank you for not laughing at my ugly crying face. Thank you for going out of your way for me, and actually wanting to be there for me and always being willing to talk things out with me. Thank you for loving me, even the things I'm the most insecure about, and for helping me love myself too.

I can't explain how much it means to me knowing that you are always there for me and cheering me on. You are the person who picks me up when I'm down. You give me the extra boost I sometimes need and you never fail to believe in me, even when I sometimes struggle believing in myself. You are one of the most compassionate people I have ever met, and you never fail to make time for me, especially when I need you the most.

A true best friend never leaves your side no matter how difficult things get. I don't think I can even begin to put into words how grateful I am to have a person like you in my life, I genuinely have no idea what I would ever possibly do without you. Thank you for being you, because I wouldn't want to be best friends with anyone else.

Love,

Your best friend

28 Daily Thoughts of College Students

"I want to thank Google, Wikipedia, and whoever else invented copy and paste. Thank you."

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
