Week 6?!?!? Almost half-way through and there's still so much to see. This weekend I went to Prague and had the luxury of staying for free with my friend studying there. Their program got to CHOOSE their apartments and I had never slept in a more comfortable queen sized bed in my entire life. Unfair.
The second I stepped off the plane an icy whirl of wind slapped me in the face informing me I was no longer in the glorious Mediterranean climate I had grown custom to. Apparently, we arrived on the coldest week they had yet! The friend I was traveling with was facing some serious denial as she wore her leather sandals on our freezing, wet journey to the apartment.
I came to Prague not knowing a thing, which is kind of pathetic of me. Probably should have done research before I left, but my friend was sure to give a the whole damn tour of the place. We walked about 7 miles a day. So no, I didn't feel the guilt when I indulged into one of these:
This is a Trdelnik, a street food found all over the city. People think they're especially from Prague, but there's actually no relation to the culture what so ever. They just popped up out of nowhere for the tourists. Doesn't make it any less yummmmyyyyyyy. I got Nutella in mine, obviously. We're convinced turtlenecks were named after them, thoughts?
Our whole trip revolved around being foodies and checking out cool, euro bars. I literally had a stuffed omelet stuffed into a freshly baked croissant. Food goals.
A lot of the bars are underground in theses cobblestone-like caves, you never know what you're going to find. On one of our last nights we went to a club that plays only 80's and 90's music on Friday and I have never felt more American in my life when "YMCA" played. No wonder everyone hates us.
All in all, it was a great long weekend full of new experiences. I went to the Lenon wall and had the classic photo shoot and went to the John Lennon Pub which was decked out in everything Lennon while only playing "The Beatles." It was everything.
Greece's air control went on strike and all of our flights were "canceled" so we had a slight freak out on how on earth we would make it back to Athens, but the strike was over and we were able to fly home... that is after booking a train to Budapest and a flight back from there, no refund and all. But as my friend Caitlin always says, "win some, lose most."
Stay tuned for my trip to Cyprus, here are some scenic shots from this week:
