Throughout the years, I've become an avid viewer in the YouTube community. I have curated a list of topics that I have issues with as do many other members of the community. In no way do I intend to offend anyone so I have purposely neglected to mention specific names.

Sponsorships:

Many YouTubers have shed a light on the sponsorships that others have received, and so I have learned about the nature and process of them. Obviously, the ideal scenario would be that a YouTuber speaks freely about his or her opinions on a specific product without hinderance from the company themselves. However, in some cases, YouTubers take on sponsorships that prohibit them from sharing possible negative opinions on specific products. Thus, to falsely lead an audience reflects poorly on their own reputation.

The nature of vlogs:

Vlogs allow viewers to watch their favorite YouTubers' lifestyles, a version of reality that seems more manufactured than real. By depicting a seemingly glamorous life, viewers become disillusioned with their own lives, thus leading to feelings of insecurities. The nature of vlogs, explicitly in the fashion and beauty communities, perhaps subconsciously or consciously aims to market a thrilling life to young and impressionable viewers. Instead of combatting the "You and your life are so perfect," comments many Youtubers decide to keep up the facade and even respond with a simple, "Thanks." A YouTuber surely should have a specific responsibility to reject that stigma and speak about the negative effects of blindly idolizing someone through a 10 minute haul video.

Blanket Statement Videos:

I have a problem with significant YouTubers addressing major topics that they most likely have not had any experience with. These videos tend to gloss over important issues such as the stigmas of mental illness or even videos that offer lackluster advice on "how to fix your life." Usually, when I view these videos, I'll see a barrage of positive comments expressing how this lackluster advice has helped them. However, very simply, without a condescending tone, they are probably from the ages of 12-15 and are most likely very impressionable. It would be ideal if significant YouTubers took the time to locate helpful resources for their viewers and confess their lack of knowledge on an important issue instead of spreading false information.

Overall, I appreciate YouTube, and I try to focus on specific YouTubers that are leading their lives by examples. I enjoy watching people who inspire and help others grow in an authentic manner. It's truly amazing and refreshing to know that there are real genuine YouTubers out there who strive to make a difference.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
