Aramark

We're thankful for them because they feed us, but not thankful for the stomach aches they give us. Aramark will never beat a home-cooked meal made by your mom, but they try.

Boardmans

Everybody's go-to place on the weekend. Who doesn't love a sweaty, over-crowded apartment?

Cheesy Bread

Whether it's 2 a.m. or 2 p.m., cheesy bread always sounds like a good idea. It's always a great day when you remember you have leftover cheesy bread waiting for you at home.

Desperados

If you're sick of cafeteria food or simply need to cure that Mexican food craving, Desperados has got you covered. From home-made guacamole to burritos the size of your head, you're guaranteed to leave feeling satisfied.

Eldridge Hall

A place where your success is their top priority. From academic support to helping you deal with the stress of financial aid, the people of Eldridge Hall are there for you.

Fish Pond

North Adams may not have a beach, but Fish Pond is close enough. It allows for public swimming and camping. Fish Pond is perfect for anyone, on or off campus, looking for a fun place to visit on the warmer days.

Gas Leak

What sent 30 people to the hospital and left many others homeless? Nothing other than the Berkshire Towers gas leak. For four days the people of BT walked around shoe-less, phone-less and angry. What they thought was just a drill, ended up being a test of their sanity.

Houghton Mansion

Only seconds away from MCLA's campus, the Houghton Mansion was once home to Albert Houghton back in the early 1900s. The Houghtons died in a tragic car accident and it is believed their spirits still haunt their home. This mansion is said to be so haunted that Ghost Adventures came to check it out.

Intramurals

Volleyball, basketball and soccer are just a few of the intramurals offered at MCLA. It does not matter who you are, anyone is welcomed to play.

Journey

College is one of the biggest journeys we will go on in our lives. We are lucky to be experiencing this journey at MCLA.

Kindness

Because of MCLA's small size, there is no doubt you will bump into a few people you know on the way to class. From big smiles to long hugs, everyone is happy to see one another.

Late Night

Wednesday through Friday night you can find many students at MCLA taking a study break and heading to the cafeteria for a late night snack.

Murdock Stairs

The stairs of Murdock are incredibly painful, even for the fittest people. Anything higher than the second floor and you are guaranteed to start sweating and panting. Give yourself a break and take the elevator.

North Adams

The city that surrounds MCLA. There may be not much to do, but this city has a whole lot of character and history.

Opportunity

There are so many opportunities available at MCLA. Many of which are right in front of you.

P.O.D.

Without this mini grocery store on campus, there would be a lot of hungry students roaming about. Not only will the P.O.D. supply you with the snacks you want, they will also be there for you when you realize you've lost your toothbrush.

Quad Paintings

When the sun is out, so are the artists. Nothing beats walking to class and seeing the sidewalks covered in art.

Registration

As if the 7 a.m wake-up call was not enough, now you have to fight for the classes you need. You better hope the WiFi is working that day.

Snow days

Or should I say, lack of snow days.

Trailblazers

It's always a good day to be a Trailblazer.

Unity

The unity at MCLA is unbreakable.

Views

From Mount Greylock to The Top of the World, the Berkshires are known for its amazing views.

WiFi

When we have fast WiFi days, take advantage of them.

Xtra Mart

If the P.O.D. does not have what you need, there's no need to worry as Xtra Mart is right down the street stocked up with all the necessities.

Yik-Yak

Arguably one of the worst apps to exist. Nothing good comes from something anonymous. However, MCLA users keep it cool.

Zero Degrees

New England weather is unpredictable. One day it's 60 degrees and the next it's 30. Here in the Berkshires, negative 45 degrees days are to be expected.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
