Good Morning America

Starring in the 22nd season of ABC's "The Bachelor," Arie Luyendyk Jr. is breaking hearts of women everywhere. Here are a couple of facts you need to know about him in order to make this season just that much better.

1. He was born in the Netherlands (HOT!!)

2. Arie is a former race car driver with an 8-year-long career (2002-2010) and placed 28th in the Indy 500 in 2006.

3. His dad is also a former racer and 2-time Indy 500 champ, Arie Luyendyk.

4. He appeared on an episode of Gordon Ramsay's, "Hell's Kitchen" in 2011.

5. Arie will be celebrating his 36th birthday this month which explains why his hair is looking a little silver (still hot though).

6. He also appeared on season 8 of "The Bachelorette" with Emily Maynard back in 2012.

7. Also known as "the kissing bandit," Arie is said to be such a good kisser that he appeared on season 17 of "The Bachelor" to give some advice about the subject to a friend and former Bachelor, Sean Lowe.

8. Arie kept the news of becoming the next bachelor on the DL. In fact, so much so, that his family found out on September 7th along with the rest of the general public.

9. Twitter hates that Arie is the new Bachelor with tweets reading...

"@Bfischyy: I'm actually mad that Arie is the new Bachelor."

"@NotthatAdamWest: Arie as Bachelor is like a 90s song coming on at the bar. No one under 30 likes it but everyone older than that is like this is my JAM."

10. Arie says he wants someone "independent, strong, but then still gentle. A little mix." So basically the total package, nbd.

Good luck, Arie. We all hope you find love this season.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
