As high schoolers, we were all told to chose our college wisely and make sure we were absolutely certain that's where we want to go. I had ABAC on the top of my list since 5th grade and there was no way anyone was talking me out of going here. Small rural campus with an even smaller student body, and who wants big classes? This is my comfort zone. This is my school, and hasn't let me down since I registered freshman year. This year as I walk to class I start seeing more and more unfamiliar faces. #strangerdanger I feel like I'm the one who is lost. I know exactly where my classes are, and at least one person in each class. I still feel out of place. ABAC, why are you breaking tradition? I came here for small classes and show up to biology with eighty other students and realize quickly there's no possible way that I will ever be comfortable with eighty classmates.
According to the Tifton Gazzette Bucking a nationwide trend of declining student numbers, enrollment at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College has increased for the third time in the last four years, according to the figures from the first day of fall semester classes on Wednesday.
Do not get me wrong this is a great thing for the agriculture industry, but this is also an amazing thing for students individually. Students will be forced to crack down and study and work hard to achieve the grade they need to succeed. Some students will need to go to the student achievement center to get extra help more often. ABAC pays tutors to help students for no cost to the student, but when no one needs help they are paid to sit there and do their own homework or surf the web.
ABAC is definitely a unique college experience, but let's keep it small before we are all just a number instead of a name to our professors.
