Aaron's Party (Come Get It): A Track Ranking

Here's a little bit of old school for ya.

Aaron Carter was the first love of my life. I was four-years-old when I was given his album "Aaron's Party (Come Get It)." This was his second studio album, which is amazing considering he was 13 years old at the time. I recently rediscovered the album and let me tell you, some of these songs are still BANGIN'. Of course, some are better than others and I am here to tell you which ones reign supreme and which ones are better left in the past.

10. Tell Me What You Want

This sounds like a bad beach music song. Something you would hear at a retirement home for sure. Honestly, I don't even remember this song which tells me that even as a toddler I had GREAT taste in music and skipped this trash.

9. Real Good Time

This is one of four covers on the album and yet again I didn't even remember this song. It's not the worst but its definitely not a jam.

8. The Clapping Song

Everyone loves a dance song, especially when the dance moves are literally the lyrics of the song. However, since this isn't an original so this song does not deserve a place at the top.

7. Girl You Shine

I mistook this song for the 27-second sample at the end of the CD where AC and his brother and member of Backstreet Boys, Nick Carter just "beat-boxed" (or whatever they were doing) and said, "Girl, you shine." So I was disappointed when I listened to the real version and it was another boring late 90's sounding pop song.

6. Iko Iko

Another popular cover that many people know. I chose to rank this one a little higher because honestly, it makes me want to go dance at like a wedding or something? It gives me a Macarena-type feel.

5. My Internet Girl

We have entered the 21st century with this one and a SOLID BOP. It's all about lil' AC and his online love. It's a little concerning though, how did he meet this girl? Is she even a girl? It also leads me to wonder "Is 29-year-old Aaron Carter on Tinder?"

4. That's How I Beat Shaq

The first diss track I ever heard. In this song, AC is reminiscing about the time he "put it in the hoop like SLAM" on the Shaquille O'Neal. Unfortunately, at the end it is revealed that it was all a dream *sad face.* This one is a great song and I'd listen to it any day. BONUS: Shaq and AC did get to play one-on-one in 2013. *Spoiler* AC did not beat Shaq this time.

3. I Want Candy

I don't care if this is a cover. I LOVE THIS SONG. It was featured on the Christmas episode of Lizzie McGuire and absolutely changed my life. The lamest part of this song though is when he bails on his friend Justin to go hang out with Candy. #BrosBeforeHoes amiright?

2. Bounce

A real jam. This one is a great early 2000's pop hit. It just makes you want to bounce ya know?

1. Aaron's Party (Come Get It)

Obviously, everyone knew this was the best song on the whole album since they named it after the song. I know every single word to this song and I surprise myself every time. The rest of the songs are about a boy and this is truly about a slightly OLDER boy. I mean he kicked his parents out of the house to throw an absolute RAGER. He was talking to the honeys all night like (ok for the two hours his parents were out.) He gets grounded but its worth it.

I hope I brought you some early 2000's nostalgia or at least got you singing "I Want Candy" in your head. You're welcome.

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
