Dear Kate,

I would like to start off this letter by addressing the obvious, that you're gone. My heart breaks that you want to leave this amazing world you created the way that you did, but no one should ever judge you for it because no one knows what somebody else is going through.

Now that has been addressed, I'd like to state that this letter is not a sob letter, it's not a sad letter, it's not an angry letter, but a thank you letter.

Kate, I would like to thank you for not only inspiring myself but inspiring so many other people in this world. Your unique style and witty quotes have inspired me to not only build the business that I have, but to be the woman that I am. Your statement of she is quick and curious and playful and strong has resonated with myself and millions of others in this world, And for that I thank you.

I remember when I was first considering even the thought of pursuing a future in wedding planning I picked up your book, "The Guide to Living Colorfully" in one of your stores, and I read it so ferociously and was so inspired by those pages that it is shirred me I was taking the right step towards a career that would make my future. So for that, I thank you.

My outfits are never complete unless I have something of your exclusive line on, whether it be a set of your gumdrop earrings, a bracelet, or one of your beloved handbags. You, Kate, are my favorite accessory. I proudly wear your handbags as I go in and out of meetings with couples that I am planning weddings for, looking down at the bag knowing the story in which I was inspired to be who I am today.

Kate, I know I am not alone in my thankfulness towards you. Like I have mentioned I am just one of millions that you inspired with your brand. I know I speak for all of us when I say thank you. Thank you for your colorful words, your infectious quote, your beautiful stores, your witty words, and for just being yourself and showing all of us girl bosses that we can make it if we pursue our dreams.

From the bottom of my heart I will end this with a thank you for helping me be who I am today.

I'm the Short Friend. I've been the Short Friend since about the seventh grade. I'm the one who stands in the front of the photos, gets made fun of for their height, and still shops in the kids department.

This article is not for the Almost Short Friends, i.e. the 5'3" and 5'4" Friends. No no, this is for the Actually Short Friends, i.e. the Barely Scraping 5'1" and shorter Short Friends.

11 Things All Call Center Workers Can Empathize With Better Than Anyone

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.
