When I was younger, I loved thunderstorms because I knew that while the rest of the world was panicking, my house would protect me. I did not live in any old house. My home was an old one-room school house that had been turned into a live-able home. It had been built with stone and was among trees that seemed to hide it and guard it. How often in our lives do we feel like we do not have to worry when the rest of the world does because we live in a sturdy house that will withstand anything?
Many of us have heard the story of the man that built his house on the sand and the man that built his house on a rock (Matthew 7:24-27). Verse 25 says, "The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." My house growing up seemed to withstand everything. When we build our faith upon the Rock, we will not fall. That is not to say we will not go through hard times or persecution. However, by building our house on the rock, we know that whatever storms happen around us, our faith will not be shaken because we have faith in the One, True God.
