A Quarantine Reflection At The One Year Mark Of The Endgame

SPOILER WARNING: This article contains spoilers for "Avengers: Endgame."

The 25th of April. A day that every Avengers fan will remember as one of the most memorable experiences of the entire saga. Marvel's "Avengers: Endgame" was released last year and became the highest-grossing film of the year at an overwhelming $858,373,000. Incredible, right?

In the past 10 years, I have grown up a Marvel fan. Grown up watching the Avengers saga so being able to watch the bittersweet ending wrapped up into one singular movie, was quite emotional. A year ago, I packed up tissues and a bag of skittles, drove to the theater, eager to watch what I would remember as the best movie of 2019. Three hours later. I was WRECKED. Emotionally destroyed. I don't think I had ever sobbed more in a movie theater. Thankfully, I was surrounded by an entire theater that was also as emotional as I was, so nobody took note. Not only did it make me cry but it had me at the edge of my seat during the most intense scenes. This movie had lived up to all of my expectations of the finale and was one that I would remember. The entirety of this movie hit all of them for me: the humor, the intensity, the visual effects, the plot, the score. Amazing. Don't agree with me? Watch it again.

During this time of quarantine, I have been trying to find things to keep me busy away from homework so of course, I headed to Disney+. Technology has been so good to me in this time of isolation by keeping me updated with the news, letting me finish school assignments from the comfort of my home, and also constantly keeping me entertained during the day when I'm feeling bored. To keep it even more interesting, I have been face-timing my boyfriend while watching movies so we can still have commentary like we are in the same room. Since the beginning of this quarantine, we have been re-watching all of the movies in the Marvel cinematic universe to keep busy, including "Avengers: Endgame". Let me tell you, a year later, this movie is still as incredible and just as emotional as it was watching it for the very first time. I still feel anxious watching the final battle, my heart swells when Spiderman and Iron Man reunite, I get chills when Captain America finally lifts Mjolner, and tears stream down my face when Iron Man says goodbye. So, during quarantine, if you find yourself with three hours to spare, head on over to Disney+ and watch a movie that will change your life even if it's for the 20th time.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
