A Prayer For The New Semester

Everything starts with prayer.

Dear Jesus,

First, I want to thank You for everything. This past school year I have watched You direct my steps and You have divinely worked everything for my good.

You are forever faithful! Thank you for always being there in the good and in the bad. You have been my rock this past year and I will forever remember Your goodness! I pray this semester will be completely Yours. I pray that I seek You in every moment, every decision, and every action that I take as a student. Please help me to see people the way that you see them.

May I love like You love. May I speak like You would have me to speak. I pray that my life reflects You and only You. I ask that when people encounter me, that they encounter You. Jesus, please, please, please help me to recognize and give me courage to leave the 99 to embrace the one. Guide me. Lead me. I boldly ask you to stretch my faith this semester.

May I be able to connect with every classmate, professor, and worker on a deeper level. May I be intentional and build healthy friendships. I ask that You create divine appointments that allow me to show Your love to Your people. I pray that this is the semester that allows me to step out of my comfort zone. I pray that this is the semester that You use me to look beyond the walls of the church and to look for the broken hearted outside of the walls of the church. Give me the ability to give grace and truth just as You have given to me.

This semester may I be known as the person that speaks life, leads with grace, and loves unconditionally. Thank you for placing me in this season and thank you for going before me to make all of this possible. I love you forever and ever!

I'll never forget the day that someone told me these words: "Madison, I think you're a good friend to everyone but yourself." I stood there completely in awe of that statement. Before that day, I never really thought about being a friend to myself, and at the time, I didn't really know what it meant. Now, I realize that you can't fully be there for other people unless you're there for yourself, too. You can't show up for others until you're willing to show up for yourself.

Here are five things everyone should learn in order to be a better friend to themselves. These steps are hard, but they're so worth it.
