A letter to All girls who lost their confidence

In This Article:

"People are like stained-glass windows.
They sparkle and shine when the sun is out,
but when the darkness sets in their true
beauty is revealed only if there is light from
within." – Elisabeth Kübler-Ross

You walked with your head down. You're sitting silently while watching those other girls who were laughing boisterously. You wanna know the feeling of being confident enough to stand in your own, but something's always stopping you. It's the fear.

I know you're afraid, that's why you're hiding yourself behind those baggy clothes, behind those books that covers your face and behind those shadows that keeps on following you .

You're afraid of humiliation, criticism and discrimination. I know it's not easy being humiliated by someone else. It breaks your heart. It's like a feeling of being eaten by darkness. It makes you hard to breathe. It makes you feel like you're just nothing.

Everytime they said something hurtful about you, you lose yourself. You can't figure out what to do. Your mind has been corrupted by their disdainful words that you think they're right, you think they're better than you. You think you're worthless. Because words can cut deeply beneath your soul, deeper than a knife can do, even painful that it makes you feel numb.

I want you to know that you're not alone. You're not the only one who's feeling the blues right now.

Come to think of it, they might be like someone so superior and mighty, they're also like us, they have weakness, they feel hurt and they also cried.

You are someone else. You are special and beautiful in your own way. You are worthy to live. You are a precious jewel.

Don't let them make you feel like you're nothing, cause you're not. You're a somebody, you have the right to be happy, to live your life to the fullest and be free. Don't be a prisoner of others, don't let them hold you like they hold your life. You are different and being different is a special thing of a person. You are unique and one of a kind.

Feel free to stand on your own. Be the best that you can be. Show to the world that a girl like you rocks!

Never let them put you down anymore. Be brave cause you are beautiful and no one can change that.

Live, breathe, feel free and be in love. You are lovable and you are worth the most precious love in the earth.

Always remember, you're not a nobody, you're a somebody.

Take my words, cause I know the feeling of being you. Been there, done that.

So, let the world see your smile.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
