Did anyone predict generational war between GenZ and Millennials for February of 2021? because I sure didn't. Several tik Toks have recently highlighted the extreme differences between these two generations, and Millennials are very upset. So to break it down for anyone who is confused, or completely unaware, I'm gonna go over the main three things that have sparked these debates
1. Skinny Jeans.
jerry seinfeld comedy GIFGiphyDuring the past few years, skinny jeans have sort of died. Recently, a Tik Tok blew up of a group of GenZ girls out together all wearing baggy/mom jeans and sneakers. The same video then showed a group of Millennials who were all wearing skinny jeans and heels. This sparked a debate in the comments about which type of jeans are better. Many more videos have stemmed from this, most with Millennials being offended that skinny jeans are no longer "cool" and GenZ saying that we really don't care what you wear.
2. Middle Parts.
GiphyStarted from a Tik Tok of a woman in her late 20's doing a makeup routine and everyone in her comments spamming, saying she needed to try a middle part. In the next video she did, and it blew up. This then caused millennials to start another "Wait why isn't this cool anymore???" narrative, this time for side parts. Trust me, GenZ doesn't really care about where you part your hair (It looks better in the middle though.)
3. Giving your kid an Ipad.
phone wow GIF by VevoGiphyOnce again, started with a Tik Tok. A teen posted a video saying "Can GenZ all agree to not give our kids Ipads?" which then was duetted by a Millennial mom asking what they made that video on. The point of her video then becoming completely invalid because the girl was making the video on an iphone and she was probably 16 years old. These videos created a debate between teens and Millennial moms about parenting strategies, and if its healthy to give your kid an Ipad at such a young age or if it's just convienent for the mom.
