Rhonda Laswell, M. Ed. is the Coordinator of Universal Design for Learning for Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (BCSC). Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (BCSC) is nestled in the small Midwestern city of Columbus in south central Indiana. BCSC serves 12,000+ students throughout Bartholomew County. Prior to serving as the UDL Coordinator, Rhonda was a middle school science teacher. In her role as UDL Coordinator, she is responsible for the design and facilitation of professional development of staff, consultations for curriculum and learning environment design and the integration of Positive Behavior Instructional Supports. Rhonda has recently co-authored a chapter for a book on district level UDL implementation. Rhonda has also attended the Harvard UDL Summer Institute and participated in UDL Facilitators training at The Center for Applied Special Technology (CAST) in conjunction with The UDL Professional Development System (UDL-PDS) Project funded through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. She resides in Columbus, IN with her husband Morey of 28 years. She is also very blessed to have both of her adult children living in Columbus as well; her son Nathan and his wife Erin (with grand dog June) and daughter Emma. She enjoys reading, cooking, gardening, writing, and providing counseling services for individuals and couples through Community Downtown.
