Besides the superficial things surrounding Thanksgiving, it is important to take this time to think about what it is you have to be grateful for.

OK, let's not crank up the Christmas music just yet. While I love jamming out to Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" as much as the next girl, Thanksgiving is still a holiday that deserves a chance to be celebrated properly. For all my ride or die Christmas fans out there, try having a bit of empathy. I mean, could you imagine your existence being constantly overlooked due to the shadow of someone better than you in pretty much almost every aspect? No? Just me? Okay.

Well, besides the superficial things surrounding Thanksgiving that we care about (which, to be honest, might be the ONLY things we truly care about) like herb-roasted turkeys, homemade stuffing, garlic mashed potatoes, sugar-crusted apple pies... what I was I talking about again? Oh yeah. When I was learning how to talk, I was taught both Portuguese and English at the same time. In elementary school, I started taking mandatory Spanish classes, which I did well in because of my knowledge of Portuguese. Then in high school, on top of taking Spanish, I also started taking French. Now, in college, already fluent in English and Portuguese, I'm in the process of becoming fluent in Spanish, and I have a standard high school level understanding of French.
