The 90's Fashion Comeback

History has a way of repeating itself...even in the most interesting of fashion trends

The 90's Fashion Comeback

At a time when Christina was a genie in a bottle, Will Smith was gettin' jiggy, and NSYNC perfected spiked hair and bleached tips, the runways presented chokers, crimson painted lips, and combat boots. Though it has been over a decade since these trends were popular, these memorable (and somewhat nostalgic) fads are yet again making their mark as the top fashion statements of the season. Here are a few examples of 90s favorites coming back for round two:

Overalls

As the denim obsession ran wild, overalls were a crowd pleaser. Sported by fashion icons such as Jennifer Aniston on Friends, overalls were the essential nineties piece. (Bonus points if one strap was undone). As the love of denim once again peaks, stores of all kinds are displaying these body suits, appealing to hipsters and prepsters alike.

Chokers

Part of the grunge movement, elastic chokers were a staple in jewelry boxes during the nineties. With edgy fashion statements on the rise, these stretchy necklaces are all the rage again.

Dark Lips

The full-blooded color palette is making it's comeback, particularly as autumn approaches. An appropriate choice for all skin tones, this bold cosmetic choice is a statement in itself.

Combat Boots

Another key feature of the "decade of grunge", these striking shoes can be worn in any season. Paired with high-waisted shorts, ripped jeans, or a bulky sweater, the militaristic shoes are multifunctional for outfits of all kinds.

Though Christina is now a judge on The Voice, Will Smith the father of two children, and NSYNC is no longer in sync, we can count on the reoccurring fashion statements to keep the 90s alive. Let's just hope that 'mom jeans' stay buried in the bottom of those closets.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
