We all have our own taste in music. Some prefer rock than hip-hop, jazz than blues and so on.

Though I am a huge music lover, and I’ll listen to just about anything that has a good beat, a lot of my preferred music comes from foreign artists such as Utada Hikaru, Maximum the Hormone and a few others. Here are just a few songs from my playlist that I think everyone else should listen to.

1. “Animato” - Utada Hikaru

Ah, yes. Here we are again with Miss Utada. Maybe I’m a little obsessed, but this is one of my all-time favorite songs from the Japanese singer.

2. “My Girl” - Maximum The Hormone

A hard rock song from the Japanese band “Maximum The Hormone.” I know, I know. Weird name. But this song is a total banger.

3. “Back in the 90’s” - GroupLove

The ending theme to the Netflix show “Bojack Horseman.” The reason why this song sticks out to me is that it’s just pretty chill. Definitely a song you can relax to.

4. “Girls” - SE7EN (feat. Lil Kim)

A song that you can either get ready to or just listen to while being with your girls.

5. “Guilty” - Anna Tsuchiya

This is the ending theme of the CGI film “Resident Evil: Degeneration.” It’s a hard rock tune that made 12-year-old me headband so hard that my neck would hurt after.

6. “Hikari” - Utada Hikaru

The Japanese version of “Simple and Clean” from the very first “Kingdom Hearts.” A song you could vibe to with friends or dedicate to that special someone.

7. “Lonely One” - Nariaki Obukuro feat. Utada Hikaru

“I don’t wanna be the lonely one” the song starts out. Half the song is in Japanese so I honestly don’t know what half of it says, but Utada’s vocals chiming in makes this song everything.

8. “Moonwalking” - Late Night Alumni

Another chill song here on the playlist. This is a tune that you can just relax to while taking a nap, meditating, doing yoga, or just reminiscing.

9. “Niki Fm” - Hawthorne Heights

One of those “way back when” songs. Remember the “emo phase” we all went through? Oh yeah. This song will for sure bring you back to those times.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
