Spring semester is here. No matter whether your last semester was good or bad, these guidelines can help make this semester better than all others.
1. Don’t wait til the last minute to start assignments.
The best way to prevent not putting in your best effort is to make a plan to do your assignments. Understand the deadlines for your assignments, and make a timeline that encompasses when you would like to have accomplished certain tasks.
2. It’s okay to ask for help.
If you don’t understand something right away, it’s completely normal. Don’t be afraid to get the help you need because you’re afraid of looking stupid.
3. Understand that sleep is important.
It isn’t healthy to stay up later than midnight on a daily basis. In order for your mind to perform best, eight hours of sleep is recommended by most health organizations.
4. Find the organizational system that works best for you.
Whether you use a planner and write things down or an online planning method, finding a way to organize the tasks you need to complete is essential for success.
5. Plan for the future and set goals for yourself.
If you have a goal that you are reaching for, there’s a reason for you to work hard. Whether that be acquiring a certain job, getting into your dream school or graduating, setting goals for yourself provides initiative.
6. Put down that coffee with a triple shot of espresso.
Cutting out caffeine can lead to better academic performance. Instead of downing a drink with a high level of caffeine, consider eating foods that are high in energy.
7. Surround yourself with people you genuinely want to be around.
Make sure the people around you are looking out for your best interests and challenge you to be the best version of yourself.
8. Find out where and how you study best.
If studying in group settings or noisy locations distracts you, take the hint and find somewhere quiet and isolated where you can work effectively. Put your phone on do not disturb so you can focus.
9. Treat yo' self, occasionally!
Stress catches up with all of us, and it’s very easy to feel overwhelmed. This is why it’s essential to remember you’re doing the best you can. It’s okay to give yourself credit and go out with your friends, treat yourself to a shopping trip or even go to your favorite restaurant.
