Jessica Day, a popular character from New Girl, is the teacher I dream of becoming. As a future teacher, there are many ways in which she has influenced me.

The following are several Jessica Day characteristics that I hope to possess as a teacher:

1. Her Personality

Jess's weird, crazy, and caring personality is truly inspiring. I aspire to bring all of those traits into my future classroom. I hope to be a fun and great teacher like her.

2. Her Creativity

From her crazy costumes to the projects she makes for her class, Jess is always creative. Her creativity has inspired me to bring a creative flare into my classroom.

3. Her Outfits

All of her outfits are super cute and spunky. Her personality shines through her outfits, which makes her a very approachable and fun teacher. I am definitely taking some tips from her on this one!

4. Her Self Control

When things go wrong in her classroom, she always keeps it together. As a teacher, it is best to not let your true feelings show. I truly admire her ability to keep it all to herself until she gets home.

5. Her Optimism

Even when things don't go her way, she always seems to pick things up and keep trying. As a teacher, being able to have optimism is very important, as things will not always go as planned in the classroom.

6. Again, Her Self Control

Again her ability to keep her true feelings inside is very admirable, enough said.

7. Her Teacher Voice

Even around her friends, her teacher voice comes out. The teacher voice is very helpful in the classroom, but doesn't work well on adults. I aspire to be as caring about her students and friends as she is.

8. Her Responsibility

When things are crazy, she steps up and takes on more responsibility. It might be too much for her sometimes, but she does it for the kids. As a future teacher, this inspired me to do things for my future students, even if I don't want to or have to. If it benefits the students, I should step up and do it.

9. Her Honesty

She is very honest. As a teacher, you have to be able to say, "My life is a mess, but that is okay." And as she puts it, "The messy parts are the best parts." Honesty is the best policy in most aspects of life. As a future teacher, I will try my best to be honest with myself and know that everything will not be perfect.

She's pretty inspiring, right?

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
