As Valentine's Day approaches, there are various ways in which we welcome this holiday. Whether you're forever single or have been in a loving relationship since middle school, V-Day is different for everyone. These are the types of people you'll encounter (or become) on Feb. 14 as told by the characters of "Parks and Recreation."

1. The Lover of Love

This person is obsessed with everything love and hearts, and spends weeks before Feb. 14 buying everything necessary to celebrate the day right. They fantasize about finding the perfect person to spend the rest of their lives with, and their favorite movie is definitely "Valentine's Day."

2. The Person Who Eats Their Feelings

There's always that one person who prefers to mask their feelings with three courses of junk food. Their one true love on this day is that red heart-shaped box of drugstore chocolates.

3. The Matchmaker

The person that spends the holiday trying to hook up their single friends with their other single friends. They love setting up their friends' dating profiles and picking out their first date outfits. This person is most likely in a relationship and wants everyone close to them to be just as happy as they are.

4. The Person in a Long-term Relationship

These are the most obnoxious people of the group, mostly because everyone is jealous of them. Their relationship status is wonderful and amazing and most likely your goals.

5. The Person Who Goes All Out

This person loves doing anything and everything to wow their significant other. They buy dozens of roses, boxes of the finest chocolate and make reservations three months in advance at that fancy sushi place downtown. They splurge on gifts and make sure that their partner is especially loved on this day. If they're single, they're the one that throws a massive singles party and showers their best friends in all types of goodies.

6. The Person Who Loves Being Single

This person is completely comfortable with not being in a relationship and is most likely scared of commitment. They have no problem letting everyone know they're single. They tend to call the day "Singles' Awareness Day," being visibly disgusted by all the PDA and making a list of all the reasons why relationships suck.

7. The Person Who Thinks Valentine's Day is a Waste of Time

This person has no time to spend buying expensive gifts and planning lavish dinners. They're most likely single, and that person in the 4th grade that never received any Valentine's cards from their classmates.

8. The Person Who Will Be Drunk All Day

This person doesn't care. They'll attend every Valentine's and Anti-Valentine's Day party they've been invited to just to drink the alcohol. They've been hurt in the past and just want to get through the day without feeling anything at all.

9. The Person Who Does Ladies Night

Forget the significant others. This person gathers up all their beloved best girl friends and treats them to dinner, choosing to celebrate friendship rather than relationships. Love comes in many different forms, and one of the best ones is found between your newfound sisters. This day is famously called "Galentine's Day" by our own Leslie Knope.

Remember, love is theme on this day, so whether you're an April or a Ron, make sure you let the most important people in your life know how special they are to you.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
