9 Tips For College Freshmen

If you remember anything, remember your ID.

9 Tips For College Freshmen

At college, I've learned quite a bit.

1. College ID.

If you leave you're room with anything, it's best to make your swipe be that one thing. Trust me, it's just a whole lot easier. It's your lifeline. Don't lose it, break it, or leave it behind. #SwipeIsEverything #NoSwipeLeftBehind.

2. Laundry

Make sure you're on top of when your clothes come in and out of the washer and dryer. Story time, I did my laundry on Saturday then forgot about it until Sunday night...and, well, it was the last time I did that! Each one of the clothes were intricately knotted together. #LearnFromMe #SetATimer. Don't fool yourself into thinking that the laundry room will be less crowded the later at night you go because then you'll wind up folding laundry at 1:30 in the morning. #TrustMe.

3.Shuttles

Just beware. It almost feels like when you need a shuttle, each one is going to the same exact place and of course, it's not the place you need to go to. #StartWalking. Don't get me wrong, if you have some time to kill then the shuttles are fantastic. OH, and if you accidentally leave something on the shuttle, it's over.

4. Dining Halls

After going to the same dining hall each night freshmen year [s/o to Boulder], I was so happy to move on to the second one across campus, closer to where I lived. Then I soon realized the second one was worse than Boulder and I wished, so badly, for those freshmen days at Boulder. Don't take the dining options for granted. #BoulderBlessed

5. Wifi

Don't expect to be connected to wifi for more than about a half hour without having to change it to the guest wifi or something. This also might just be me because I don't know how to deal with technology.

6. Take out food.

Caution: take out food can be as addicting as ramen noodles or peanut butter and goldfish. Especially when it's Chinese take-out. #YouHaveBeenWarned

7. Class

You don't have to get to class 15/20 minutes earlier. Spend those extra 10/15 minutes grabbing breakfast, it's better #CafeteriaBreakfastBurrito #OhSnap. Also, if you are worried about maybe embarrassing yourself in class, don't be, it happens to the best of us. Pinky Promise.

8. Gym.

If you haven't been to the gym in a while and know that you'll be suffering through your workout, then go to the top part of the gym where its less crowded if you don't want anyone to see the pure pain you're in. #MyLife. #FirstHandKnowledge.

9. Nighttime

When you go off campus at night, have a good friend that will have your back with you. Most of all, do what you want to do.

The first two weeks of classes have come to an end and they have been anything BUT easy. It seems like life has been serving up more bad than good and in all honesty, the only thing you want to do is crawl under your covers and hide from the rest of the world.

Although this seems like the best solution, it is also the easy way out. Take it from the girl who took basically a whole week off from her life because she just could not handle everything that was being thrown at her. This caused her to feel extremely lonely and even more stressed out for being behind in classes that JUST began.

11 Things We Learned From Brooke Davis

"What's more important? What we become or how we become it?"

Brooke Davis

"She was fiercely independent, Brooke Davis. Brilliant, and beautiful, and brave. In two years she had grown more than anyone I had ever known. Brooke Davis is going to change the world someday, and I'm not sure she even knows it." - Lucas Scott, An Unkindness of Ravens

Brooke Davis of the hit show One Tree Hill was the it girl - she had it all, or so we thought. She started out as a stuck-up, shallow, spoiled, head cheerleader who didn't have her life together. She slept around a lot and loved to party - sounds like your typical high school teenager right? Wrong. B. Davis had so much more to offer. Caring, loyal, and outspoken, she has taught us some valuable lessons throughout the 9 seasons that OTH was on the air:

We all have a person, and when that person makes some new friends, we tend to forget all the great things that can come out of it. Never forget how special they are to you and why you are best friends.
