Society puts an incredible amount of emphasis on physical appearance. Sometimes it can be difficult to appreciate yourself in a world that upholds an unattainable type of perfection. Many people strive to be physically beautiful, but there is much more to beauty than just outward appearance. Here are some times when you are beautiful, but you don’t realize it:

1. When you stay true to yourself.

You’re stunning when you decide to do your own thing and not follow the crowd.

2. When you don’t let others’ opinions bring you down.

There’s nothing more impressive than a person who knows their value even when others criticize them.

3. When you are kind to people who can’t do anything for you.

It’s one thing to be nice to a professor or a potential employer, but you truly shine when you are considerate towards those who can’t benefit you in any way.

4. When you care for yourself.

Taking personal time and loving yourself shows from the inside, out.

5. When you try your hardest.

Passion, determination, and hard work make you incredibly attractive.

6. When you show emotion.

Whether you’re laughing or crying, you’re being authentic and that’s amazing. Telling someone else how you feel about them is a beautiful thing.

7. When you are completely honest.

If you’re an open book, people can’t judge you by your cover. Raw honesty is refreshing.

8. When you give a gift.

Gifts can range from a thoughtful present to a random act of kindness. When you have other people on your mind you are beautifully selfless.

9. When you dance like nobody is watching.

When you live life to the fullest, on your own terms, you're always beautiful on the inside and out.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
