Most of these would probably be considered chick flicks, but they are good. I would have loved to live in an era like this. It was all about having a good time and enjoying the moment.

Check out these nine must-see movies that were made before 2001:

1. The Breakfast Club

"Don't you forget about me."

Five completely different high school students stuck in Saturday detention. This movie is about realizing that high school is about making something of yourself, rather than trying to impress people who don't matter.

2. 16 Candles

Yeah, it would suck that everyone forgot your birthday, but at the end of the day who wouldn't want Jake Ryan waiting for you at his car?

3. The Princess Bride

This one is a fairy tale where the beautiful young woman is forced into a marriage with the prince until her true love shows up and tries to save her.

4. 10 Things I Hate About You

Heartthrob Heath Ledger is so charming and handsome in this chick flick. Just watch it.

5. Dazed and Confused

In 1976, teenagers were celebrating the last day of school and celebrating it right. Freshman hazing is a normal thing that happens and football is the most important thing in the town.

6. Can't Buy Me Love

Patrick Dempsey is just as (Mc)Dreamy as he is in his younger days than he is in his older days. Dempsey plays a nerd who "buys" his way in being a popular kid. He eventually realizes that the truth always comes out and that being yourself is the best way to go.

7. Grease

"Tell me about it, stud."

It may be a musical, but the friendships, romances, adventures, and style back in the 1950's is an era that you wish you were born in. Sandy and Danny are also goals.

8. Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Senior skip day taken to a whole other level.

9. Footloose

Rules are never fun, but dancing is. In this small town, it is against the law to play loud music and dance freely. So the high school kids team up to make it legal once again.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
