Train rides are long which gives you a lot of time to think about all the things that could go wrong.

If you have ever taken a train to go anywhere, chances are you have thought some of these.

1. Boarding

"The first empty seat I see, I am taking it. I don't care, I want the freaken window seat!"

2. Other people boarding

"Oh shit, someone might sit next to me. I am not mentally prepared for that. Just avoid eye contact and you'll be fine. And put headphones in just to be safe."

3. Someone sitting next to you

"I wonder if I smell. What if I can't smell me because I am always around me and I have become used to my smell, but they can smell me and they think I smell weird."

"Should I try to talk to them? Or would that make things awkward? Oh come on, you are sitting next to a complete stranger, it is already awkward. Talking to them will at least make the time go by quicker."

4. Talking and they are totally not interested

"Well that was a shit-show. So much for trying to be nice. They didn't even laugh at my joke. The first chance I get to move seats I will."

5. Trying to sleep

"Should I put headphones in to try to drown out that baby that won't stop crying? Probably, but I can't sleep with headphones in my ears. Fuck. Now I can't get comfortable, but neck hurts from having it in this weird position. What if I drool? Or snore? Or talk in my sleep? I'll just stay awake...."

6. Stops

"Oh come on, do we really need to stop for EVERY SINGLE freight train?"

"I did not see one person get on or off at that stop did we really have to stop?"

7. Checking out the scenery

Packing thought: "I don't need to bring anything to do on the train, I'll just look out the window."

On the train: "Oh look, there's corn and more corn. Oh shit look at that! It's a tree! I knew I should've brought something to do."

8. Delays

"We should've gotten there a half hour ago! I could've walked there faster. Maybe next time I will. JkJk that's too far, who am I kidding."

9. When it's your stop

"Oh my gosh, I'm almost there! I can't wait to get off this train. My ass hurts so bad and I have to pee! Now to wait for the appropriate time to stand up. I don't want to do it so soon that people are going to look at me like I'm crazy, but I don't want to rush off either. I'll just wait until I see more people standing."
