Most people know that yoga is great. It is not only beneficial for the body, but also does wonders for the mind. Yoga is as much mental as it is physical. Sometimes in yoga classes, the mind will relax completely, emptying of worries and outside thoughts. However sometimes the mind wanders. Here are some thoughts you may have had while taking a yoga class:

1. "I wonder if anyone else can smell the toxins seeping out of me..."

Sometimes all it takes is a couple minutes in the heated studio and you are dripping. When you sweat toxins leave the body. Alcohol is a common toxin and after a night out it is not uncommon to smell those martini's leaving the body.

2. "Well, she looks cute."

Some people have that natural skill of looking flawless while dripping sweat in downward dog. Yoga clothes are also extremely cute. Patterned pants, strappy shirts and neon jackets have really changed the athletic-wear game.

3. "Is everyone else struggling as much as I am?"

Yoga is hard stuff. Even the seemingly basic poses require strength, balance and focus. And sometimes it seems like you are the only one struggling through those poses... but chances are the whole class feels the same way you do.

4. "I should really start eating better."

Yoga goes far beyond exercise. It truly becomes a lifestyle and an inspiration. Yoga teaches you that health is a mind-body connection. During class it is not uncommon to feel inspired to avoid eating that leftover birthday cake when you get home.

5. "How on earth do these teachers know this so well?"

My hat goes off to yoga instructors. They seem to have everything perfectly prepared for each class. They know the breathing, the poses and the music and they execute it all in sync.

6. "There is much more to yoga than touching your toes..."

And anyone who says "I can't do yoga because I can't even touch my toes" is missing out. Yoga goes far beyond stretching and flexibility. Yoga is a strength category within itself and it teaches you so much about your own body. You'll work and feel muscles you never knew existed.

7. "I wonder what time class is tomorrow..."

Sometimes yoga is so great that during class you'll catch yourself thinking of future yoga...

8. "I really hope savasana is coming up."

There is nothing quite like corpse pose...

9. "This is truly amazing."

Yoga simply feels amazing. It is not only a reward for yourself, but it is doing your body a favor that it deserves.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
