635 Rebel Drive, better known as Martin Hall, houses more than 1500 girls on 10 floors. It's become one of the most popular dorms on campus, and it's common to find old alum talking sweetly about their time spent in the dorm.

Here are 10 things you know if you're a martin girlie!

1. The Martin Hill is the worst part of your day.

You take extraordinary measures to avoid the hill. You plan your entire day around having to walk up the hill one time at most. The worst time for the hill is at the beginning of the school year when it's still 100 degrees outside. Whose idea was it to build a dorm at the bottom of the hill?

2. You met your entire floor weeks before school in a GroupMe.

Shortly after room assignments, GroupMe's start to form. You became instant friends with your floor mates long before move in. Even better than this, you became friends with your entire building in the huge GroupMe for all of Martin.

3. You have seen that toxic wasteland that is Stockard.

Stockard is the adjoining boys' building to Martin. While Martin is a big tower full of Bath and Body Works, Lululemon, and sushi, Stockard is exactly what you'd expect from thousands of 19 year old boys living together. Proceed with caution.

4. You always have someone to ask a favor from.

"Does anyone have a scantron?" "Does anyone have nail polish?" "Can I borrow popcorn from someone?" These are all daily texts flying around our huge GroupMe. You always have someone to grab something from last minute, and you're always eternally grateful.

5. You can hang out with people at all hours of the day and vent your problems.

It doesn't matter if its 9 a.m. or 11 p.m., you always have a friend down the hall or next door to catch up with. Your Martin friends are always down to get food, complain about teachers, and talk about boys.

6. C Store = Freshman 15

I still remember when I discovered how great the C Store was. RIP to all our flex balances. Grabbing coffee and a SmartWater in the morning is just as great as 2 Crispitos after a night out. We have the rest of our lives to eat healthy.

7. Getting ready for The Grove together is a ritual.

You wake up at 8 a.m. on a Saturday in the fall. The sound of "Closer" drifts down the hallway. You shower, search through someone else's closet, and put on makeup together.

8. You have friends in every sorority.

Especially because Ole Miss has such a late rush, you make the majority of your friends in the two months before it. The other 30 girls on your floor are all in different sororities, and it makes it 10 times more fun because your circle becomes bigger.

9. You'll always reminisce on your time as a Martin girl.

Because Martin has been running for 50 plus years, it's common to see parents and grandparents coming in and talking about their time here. I know that in 15 years, it'll be fun to tell my kids about the times we all had in 635 Rebel Drive.

Ten Truths Every Honors Student Knows

One of the main reasons I came to Salem State was I was offered a spot in the honors program. While it offered many benefits, scholarships and priority registration to name a few, what drew me in was the strong sense of community and close knit friendships many found. I am glad to say that that I did find these things, and so much more. I found a home made up of some of the most brilliant and most unique people I have ever met. Being in an honors program creates a college experience unlike any other and creates some universal truths that really only an honors student can fully understand.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?
