Calling Stillwater, NY home brings along some unique experiences.
1. When you finally go off to college no one knows where Stillwater is.
It goes a little like, "So is that close to Syracuse?"..... No no it's not. Then you end up telling them it's near Saratoga.
2. To prove to people how small your town really is you usually say, "Well, we only have one traffic light, it's actually a flashing yellow light and it’s at the intersection of the gas station.”
3. The place to be any time of the day is Stewarts, no matter what age you are.
4. When you finally graduate high school your graduation party will most likely be one of two places: the legion, or Admirals.
5. In high school you learn a lot; one thing being that a Gertrude Hawk chocolate bar can be a sufficient lunch.
6. "That technology is anything that makes life easier."
7. You will be featured in The Express at least every few months no matter what you are involved in.
8. The biggest event of the year is The Indian Bowl mostly because you get to tell people how the TV station was there.
9. The most stressful part of the day when you are an upperclassman is trying to get out of the parking lot before the buses.
When writing the article, I realized even spell check doesn't know Stillwater is a word.
But I wouldn't have wanted it any other way, because Stillwater is one special town.
