The weather is getting warmer, which means it’s officially Baha Men season here in the US of A! The Baha Men are perhaps the most important export we’ve received from the Caribbean, although not much is known about the group. Here’s a quick list on the mysterious men of Baha. It’s bananas!
1. “Who Let the Dogs Out?” isn’t what you think it’s about.
There are rumors on the internet that “Who Let the Dogs” should actually be “Whom Let the Dogs Out,” but that’s not the worst theory out there. The song is allegedly about ugly people at the club, dogs being a term used to describe someone with unattractive physical characteristics. This is incorrect, however. The song is actually about natural disasters and how dogs and other animals have demonstrated erratic behavior during earthquakes and tsunamis, such as running outdoors for no reason. Don’t listen to what critics tell you, this is what the song means.
2. The Baha Men have a very nice website.
The home base of the Baha Men is pristine in appearance and user-friendly in functionality. Check it out!
3. The Garfield Movie soundtrack is available at The Baha Men website.
There’s a fat, orange attention hog on the Baha Men’s website, but our President doesn’t have as much cattitude as Garfield! You can also purchase the soundtrack for "Shrek" and "Around the World in 80 Days." Oh, and the Baha Men’s music library is available too.
4. There are officially nine Baha Men at the moment.
This might seem like an arbitrary fact, but I’m fairly certain you didn’t know it.
5. There is no Baha Men movie.
Despite the Internet rumors of the alleged "The Baha Men Take Manhattan," a critically-acclaimed tour de force starring the Baha Men has never been produced. However, their music has appeared in some of the best films to grace the silver screen, such as "Rat Race," "Rugrats In Paris," and "Miss Congeniality." When asked to confirm that there is no Baha Men movie, each member of the group answered saying no such film exists, except for Hershel, who just looked down and laughed. What is Hershel hiding? I wonder...
6. Elton John is okay with the "Crocodile Rock" cover.
Perhaps the most underappreciated track by the Baha Men is their cover of Elton John's "Crocodile Rock." I like both versions, but oh my crikey did the Baha Men seriously do it justice. As Elton put it, "This is the bloodiest fire I hope is never extinguished. Oh my crikey."
7. If the Baha Men were a bit younger, they would be the Baha Boys.
This is just common sense.
8. I hope the Baha Men got compensated for "Who Let The Smurfs Out?"
Unless you live under a rock, you've seen this video of the infamous Gargamel busting a move to "Who Let The Smurfs Out?" I don't know if the Baha Men were given credit for supplying the original tune, but I sure hope so. If I include this weird Smurfs video on this list a very influential person will share it on tumblr and then many people will see it. I quit my job and need to get famous like yesterday.
9. You can request the Baha Men come to your neck of the beach.
According to their website, the Baha Men aren't too busy at the moment. For a guaranteed good time you can book the Baha Men on their contact page. Had I not quit my job to become famous, I would feel more inclined to drop some money to see the Baha Men bring good vibes to my town.
With this knowledge, you can now take the reigns the next time the Baha Men come up in conversation. It feels like everyday this happens.
