9 Things You Can Do For Yourself This Valentine's Day

\Ah yes, Valentine's Day is around the corner. It's time for chocolates, flowers, sappy cards, couples being gross and over-sized stuffed animals. If you have someone to share this holiday with, then there's a good chance that you'll have a lovely and romantic day. However, for us singles, it can easily be a day of self-loathing, sadness and jealousy. Dear singles, just because you're single on Valentine's Day doesn't mean you can't have fun! You can have just as much fun as those people on dates are having.

1. Buy yourself flowers and chocolates.

Go ahead, spoil yourself. If no one else is going to do it, then you might as well -- they'd probably get you the wrong kind anyways. Just go out and find the biggest bouquet of flowers and the biggest thing of your favorite chocolate, you deserve it. Also, let's not forget that on February 15th all chocolate is half off!

2. Sleep in.

Catch up on some sleep that you're probably in great need of. Nothing says loving yourself quite like sleeping in does.

3. Book a massage.

Treat yo self. Book the best massage that you can afford and let yourself unwind and relax for a little bit.

4. Go shopping.

Buy yourself that one thing that you've had your eyes on for forever and then some. Even if you can't buy yourself anything, window shopping is a pretty great stress reliever.

5. Take yourself to your favorite restaurant.

Food, it is the way to anyone's heart. Go to your favorite place, get your favorite meal and have no regrets.

6. Go out with your friends.

Instead of staying at home sulking about how no one is in love with you, gather up a few of your other single friends who love you and enjoy the day or night with them.

7. Watch a crappy rom-com and make fun of it.

A few I have seen really bad reviews on are, and are not limited to: "You're So Cupid," "Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World," "Relationship Status: It's Complicated" and "My Sucky Teen Romance."

8. Make yourself attractive.

No, not in hopes of attracting someone. Just make yourself attractive for you and flaunt it! And don't be afraid to look in a couple of mirrors as you walk by, enjoy the view.

9. Go to an animal store and play with all the puppies.

Seriously, if playing with small furry puppies doesn't make you smile, I don't know what will. I mean, look at this! I couldn't not smile if I saw this!

I know personally that I'll be enjoying No.1, No. 2 and No. 7. If we're being honest here, just between you and me, I'd almost rather be doing one of these things on Valentine's Day than a date. Regardless of if you have anyone to spend the day being romantic with or not, don't let the holiday get you down! You can have an amazing time if you allow yourself to have one!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
